Located at the western foot of the stunning ancient Porongurup range in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, Duke’s Vineyard is a ten-hectare vineyard planted in 1999 to Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
Duke's Vineyard is a family-owned, boutique winery that has achieved many outstanding accolades over a 20+ year history including being awarded Best Australian Wine of the Year in 2019 for the 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling by James Halliday’s Wine Companion. We are noted as a Top Winery in Huon Hooke’s Real Review, were awarded Best Riesling of WA in 2022 for the 2022 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling, and have been one of James Halliday Top 100 Wineries and a Red 5 Star winery since 2013, placing our vineyard among "truly the best of the best."
Ben Cane and his partner Sarah Date purchased Duke's Vineyard when founders Duke and Hilde Ranson decided to retire in 2022. Ben, previously the chief winemaker at top labels in Australia and California, was honored to be entrusted by Duke to continue running this family-owned operation renowned for putting Great Southern Rieslings on the map.
Duke's Vineyard was awarded the industry's most prestigious prize when the 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling was named Australian Wine of the Year by James Halliday in 2019. It was the first time a white wine scored 99 out of 100 points and helped cement the reputation of Western Australia's Great Southern as one of Australia's top regions for Riesling.
